Fiegl “Villa Dugo” Pinot Grigio 2019
Terrific Italian grigio at a bargain price!
The Fiegl family have been growing grapes since 1782 in Oslavia (close to Slovenian border in Collio within the famed wine region of Friuli between the Alps and the Adriatic sea), renowned for some of the finest whites in Italy. Brothers Alessio, Giuseppe and Rinaldo now run the company consisting of 30 hectares of land, 25 dedicated to vineyards. This beautiful countryside with crystal clear mountain water, hillside plantings benefit from warm days moderated by cool breezes from the Adriatic and chilly nights thanks to proximity to the Alps, making for a long, cool growing season. The soil also plays an important role – it is rich in clay (known as “ponca”) and it’s composed of arenaceous and marly stratifications from the Eocene period. 12.5% alc. Under Stelvin
2019 vintage has arrived and is on song! Floral aromas of jasmine, pears and citrus both complex and delicate that runs through to the palate. Gorgeous concentrated flavours of honeysuckle and apple yet savoury, dry with a crisp, mineral finish.
This really is Italian grigio that over-delivers quality not normally seen at this price! Up there with the finest quality Italian Grigio on the market at this price!
