Maison Chanson Père et Fils is one of the oldest ‘houses’ of Beaune (founded in 1750) and also one of the larger owners of Beaune premier cru vineyard. Bollinger took over in 1999 and this saw Chanson take on a new lease of life.”This beautiful house from Beaune … has now fully found its mark and style. It competes with the best thanks to their wines with clear and pure style, both white and red. A state of the art winery and the relevant advice of Jean-Pierre Confuron, in the vineyards as well as in the winery, explain the very clear expression across the wide range of Domaine wines.” REVUE DU VIN de FRANCE -Guide Edition 2012 (France’s leading wine magazine)
This vineyard of 1.90 hectares is ideally located on mid-slope close to the famous hill of grand cru Corton-Charlemagne. Same soil structure and height as its famous neighbour. The only difference is the East exposure of the “Caradeux” which makes this plot an exceptional “terroir” providing unique mineral characteristics.
Concentrated depth of fruit, minerality, superb line, length and balance here. Grand cru quality for half the price in this stunning white burgundy!
James Halliday Nov 2013
“…The 2-hectare vineyard is slow-ripening, and invests the wine with a strong structure, flavours of grapefruit, and, above all else, racy minerality that drives the wine through to its long finish. 20% new oak, and bottled in October ‘12. This is the best value of all of the white wines, giving you Corton Charlemagne (which Pernand Vergelesses abuts) for half the price.”
“A highly expressive and pungent nose of resin, citrus peel, white flowers and mineral reduction leads to soft, round and delicious medium weight flavors that exude an attractive stoniness on the clean, dry and ever-so-mildly austere finish. This is pretty if not especially deep.” 2016+” 91 points Burghound June ’13
