Teusner The Riebke Shiraz 2017
DOZEN BUY. Barossa Bargain!
This is a terrific full bodied expression of Barossa shiraz (all Ebenezer- northern Barossa fruit from the Riebke brothers vineyard) – it’s brimming with ripe flavour yet balanced by refreshing acidity. Again a bargain for quality and value!
Winemaker Kym Teusner said of this wine “The Riebke tradition continues…rich, abundant flavour and serious drinkability whilst also being easy on the pocket. The wine is jam packed with Barossa Shiraz flavours….plums, black fruits and warm spices. We’ve taken it easy on the oak to allow the fruit to take center stage…as you would when it’s this good. This is a plush, vibrant wine of immense generosity and incredible value.”
New release vintage … review on 2016 vintage 92 points James Halliday “This is unashamedly all about the flavours of Barossa Valley shiraz with no new oak influence – 1 year in old barrels. It’s a whorl of dark plums and blackberry jam, ripe flavours but not overripe with black strap licorice, incorporating savoury, umami notes of soy sauce. Full-bodied, plump and structured tannins and ultimately satisfying.”
