Spinifex Rosé 2019
SPECIAL 6 PACK BUY! Outstanding rose by the master! Tribute to Provence!
“Pete and his partner Magali Gely operate what I think is the best new wave of small scale Barossa wine companies to emerge at the beginning of the 21st century. These weren’t big, blockbuster, showy wines designed to impress. They were wines that managed to take the best of the Barossa’s sometimes forgotten varietal traditions and fuse them onto a very European flavour sensibility. ” Max Allen. The future makers.
“It seems that Spinifex wines can do no wrong.” Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

65% Grenache, 10% Cinsault and 25% Mataro. In spite of the relentless proliferation of rosé on the market, Peter Schell’s wine – now into its second decade of production – keeps coming up trumps! The fruit comes from a range of dry grown Barossa vineyards, “mainly bush vines, all hand-picked–old school,” chuckles Pete. In short, sites selected for their ability to produce outstanding quality rosé material (the average age of vines is 65 years old although the oldest parcels range up to 120 years of age). Grapes are hand-picked and crushed bunches were macerated for between 6 – 24 hours prior to pressing before the wine was fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured on lees prior to bottling. Approximately 5% was fermented and matured in old French oak demi-muids, the rest in tank. Bottled without filtration, the resulting wine offers the kind of vibrant perfume (of red fruit, nectarine and white flower), texture and crunchy line that were once the exclusive domaine of Provençal rosé. Pete’s passion for wines of Provence shine thru’ here in this fleshy delight buoyed by crunchy raciness and mouthwatering dry finish.. 13% alc.

Review of 2018:
95 points, James Halliday “..salmon-pink; the bouquet is ablaze with nutmeg, bramble and rose petal aromas, the palate converting the bouquet into a three-dimensional display, swooping and accelerating as it moves through to the finish.”
