Parcels of fruit from Cotes de Beaune ; Auxey, Meursault and Chassagne…A decade or so on from vintage, this wine is youthful, bright , citrusy; delightfully tight and focused …….tasted blind you would swear it was a 2 yr old wine and not a 11 yrs old ! Toastiness and freshly baked brioche on the nose with generous fruit, fine lick of minerality and lemon citrus kick. bottle age has provided wonderful complexity and plenty of allure! Great length, freshness and balance here.

It is almost impossible to put into words the significance of Madame Lalou Bize-Leroy and her Domaine Leroy estate in the world of wine. Clive Coates MW poses the rhetorical question: "Is this the greatest estate in Burgundy?" and answers: “How do you determine great? Is it size? Is it quality? Is it price? Is it reputation? Is it the amount of media cover- age?” However, you do compute it, the greatest domaines of Burgundy today must be those under the control of Lalou Bize: The Domaine Leroy and her own Domaine d'Auvenay.
