Anselmi Capitel Croce Soave 2006

Without a doubt Roberto Anselmi is one of the most important producers of the Soave region (Monforte d’Alpone). His work both in the vineyard and winery has seen him become a modern pioneer of quality Italian wine. In 1999 Roberto chose to “declassify” his wines from Soave DOC to IGT due to his dissatisfaction with the newly introduced DOCG, which he (and a few other quality minded producers) consider is not strict enough on quality.

Wow, this wine stopped my conversation! How does one describe the cascading flavours of this superb wine ? Guava, orange rind, honeysuckle, roast almonds, sour dough with gruyere cheese... Anselmi’s flagship wine (100% barrel fermented single vineyard garganega) has profound intensity of fruit, texture and tension.
