Delatite Bull Run Cabernet Merlot 2005
Delatite, in the foothills of Mt Buller have been doing very well. Awarded the prestigious 5 Star Winery Rating from Halliday. This elegant (biodynamic) cabernet merlot has terrific ripe blackcurrant, mint, fine grained tannins and gentle use of French oak (it is basically wine that did not quite make the grade for their flagship Devil's River Cabernet Merlot blend). Boston Bay Merlot 2008
The Ford family planted their vineyard in South Australia's Eyre Peninsula back in 1982. Maritime sea breezes blowing in from Boston Bay have produced this outstanding merlot with rich mulberry fruit, great length and spicy kick (5% cabernet sauvignon) made by legendary Clare winemakers O'Leary Walker. Experienced winemaker David Hook has worked everywhere from Tyrrells to Lakes Folly and in France and Spain. Select parcels of fruit are blended from the Hunter Valley, McLaren Vale and Mudgee.

Chrismont La Casa Rosso 2008
What a find! This Italian-esque blend of Sangiovese and Merlot really surprised me - it is truly delicious and cries out for mediteranean fare (think Italian sausage, olives, lasagne and pizza!) Made by leading King Valley vigneron Arnie Pizzini (Christmont Wines), it sings with dark cherries, wild blackberries and a hint of aniseed…with great depth and savoury complexity too. Very rare to find a Sangiovese of this quality for such a silly price… Don't tell Arnie it is really a $20 plus wine! This is my new vino rosso de la Casa. RRP: $17
