Pierre Lamandier’s biodynamic vineyard (almost unheard of in Champagne) with an average vine age 35 years (most Champagne vineyards are considered ‘old’ and due for replanting at 25 years). Low yields ( 50 hl/ha on average), “minimalist” approach with indigenous yeasts, long, slow ferments ( including variety of large oak vats and even barriques) and minimal sulphur.

Champagne producers Pierre & Sophie Larmandier are passionate craftsmen – they do everything they possibly can in the vineyard to ensure their base wines are top shelf….All their vineyards are biodynamic (rare in Champagne) with an average vine age of 35 years (most Champagne vineyards are replanted at 25 years). Yields are extraordinarily low by Champagne standards (50 hl/ha on average), “minimalist” approach with natural wild yeasts, long, slow fermentation and minimal sulphur. Larmandier champagnes are all extra brut (dry) to showcase the extraordinary purity of their fruit. They are fine and delicate, yet with a mineral intensity that keeps you coming back, sip after sip. A blend of 80 per cent Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and 20 per cent Pinot Noir
(All premier cru fruit predominantly 2007 vintage with one-third reserve wines). It has less than 4gm dosage so this Brut is also an extra brut! A full, rich wine with a lovely creamy texture and a striking earthy lick to close. This is Larmandier’s ode to the traditional, house styles.
