Alfred Gratien Brut Classique NV

Founded in 1864 in Épernay, this traditional Champagne house ferments all base wines and reserve wines in oak barrels contributing depth and complexity. Chadonnay 45% , Pinot Noir 12% , Pinot Meunier 43% with no malolactic fermentation.

Complex and powerful flavours brimming with ripe apple, lemon/ lime zest ...layers of savoury flavours of bread and roast nuts. Dare I say it reminded me of Krug, Bollinger.

High Pinot Meunier component giving it aromatics/ lift and the chardonnay imparting lemon zing. Deluxe quality and value here. 94pts Peter Bourne, Gourmet Traveller Wine. Live it up!
