Valli Gibbston Valley Pinot Noir 2007

Grant Taylor learnt the ropes as chief winemaker at Gibbston Valley Estate for 13 yrs. Grant is widely regarded as new Zealand's pinot guru. His aim is to produce top shelf single vineyard pinot noirs highlighting the different sub regions of central otago. Gibbston Valley is cooler ( critical grapes have a long hang time on vine to ripen and develop complexity and elegance- sometimes not picked until May) than Bannockburn and produces more fragrance and elegance.

First vineyard in the valley to be planted in true north to south direction, maximizing the amount of sunlight hours the vines receive- contributes dramatically to the uniform ripening of fruit, a critical factor in Pinot Noir quality. Cropped at only1kg/vine to ensure perfect ripeness.
