Named as a tribute to Len Pumpa, a pioneering Eden Valley grower back in the 1920s who preserved the vineyards that they are custodians of today. Co-owners, Corey Ryan (cut his teeth" as winemaker at Henschke for 10 yrs) winemaker and Simon Cowham (ex-viticulturist Yalumba) have weaved their magic with this new release. A fine blend of shiraz (80%) cabernet (15%) & tempranillo (5%) from Eden Valley (50 odd yr old vineyard with minuscule yields 1- 2 ton / acre) followed by 15 months in predominantly French oak....Plush aromatic dark cherry fruit complemented by cedar and wintergreen notes of cabernet sauvignon and a touch of tempranillo which adds a savoury undertone and softens the fine grained and textured tannins. Very smart rouge.
