Stephen George says: "This is from our 26 yr old vineyard and is made from a handful of our 18 pinot clones. It was matured in the French oak that was used for our previous two Reserve pinots and is designed to have a life of at least five years...yields in 08 were slightly above average ... and the wine's richness and full flavour reflect the hot vintage."

"I don't know how Stephen George does it, but I'm almost never disappointed by an Ashton Hills pinot noir. As a new release, or with age. A wine of impeccable balance. It's sappy and smoky, tangy and tight, with oodles of sour cherry and charcuteire-like flavours. It's buoyant with aroma and tasty through the finish. Nice strike of tannin. Good sense of power.
