Frankland River produces some of the best shiraz in Australia and James Kellie has sourced the fruit from the region's best low yielding vineyards. I love this wine because it is so damn complex .. ripe plum, ripe blackberry, dark chocolate and tarry/ liquorice flavours (reminiscent of the Rhone Valley). All this thanks to the regions warm days and cool nights, low rainfall and "mean" gravely soils. Rich complex red with fine grained tannins and layers of complexity. This wine needs decanting or some time (5-10 years) in the cellar. 94pts Halliday, Gold Medal Canberra.

Kym Teusner was crowned king by Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine as Young Winemaker of the Year in 07. He has produced extraordinary wine here!! A classic Rhone blend 55% grenache 25% shiraz 20% mataro. The grenache and mataro fruit is all sourced from low yielding dry grown 70 to 85 yr old vineyards.

Dark cherries, kirsch, red berry grenache fruit with layers of spice, earthy and roast meat characters beautifully integrated on the palate (16 mths maturation in old French oak has brought out the earthy, savoury characters in the grenache) with long fine persistent tannins. Will mature with age into earthy leathery chocolate and tobacco Jeremy Oliver, Huon Hooke in fact every Aussie wine writer on the planet has written this wine up. Unbelievable stuff...Winery is sold out- we have the last of this fine nectar! RRP $ 36
