Orlando Steingarten Eden Valley Riesling 1999

Orlando Steingarten Eden Valley Riesling 1999

Arguably australia’s finest Riesling - the first vintage goes back to 1968. Steingarten is German for garden of stones and 1962 Colin Gramp planted this vineyard in decomposed schist rock! This steep hillside vineyard in the Barossa ranges behind Rowland Flat back provide the ultimate struggle for the vines….(the enduring perversity of viticulture that a vine yields its finest wines under the greatest stress or adversity.) This fine riesling has been carefully cellared and will age for another 2 decades.

Muddy Water Unplugged Riesling 2008

Muddy Water Unplugged Riesling 2008

Top shelf botrytis riesling made by this leading Christchurch producer....Drink this superb nectar with fruit and cheese.....it doesn't get better than this!

Muddy Water Unplugged Riesling 2008More Details
Reviews Abound of their 2006 :
A superbly luscious wine that has achieved its remarkable array of honey, tropical and tree-fruit
flavours with the help of bunches selectively harvested to optimise botrytis. Grapes are picked with high sugar levels and fermented to produce a relatively high alcohol level of 12%. Not a full-blown sticky, this is great as an aperitif and has the potential to age well. Muddy Water now makes three outstanding rieslings – a feat that arguably makes it the country’s number one producer, together with Framingham. 5 stars, 96 points, Bob Campbell Gourmet Traveller Wine April/May 2008.

Luscious wine made from hand-selected bunches. A strong honeyed influence is counterbalanced by fresh acidity. A restrained sticky - better as an aperitif than as a match with sweet desert.
- 5 stars, 95 points, Bob Campbell Gourmet Traveller Wine June/July 2007.

The 2006 vintage was hand-harvested in Waipara at 29 to 31 brix. Based solely on ‘clusters
infected with noble rot’, it was tank-fermented with indigenous yeasts and lees-aged for four
months. Light lemon/green, it’s a rich, citrusy, slightly honeyed wine, crisp and sweet (58
grams/litre of residual sugar), with good vigour and intensity. 4 stars – Michael Cooper’s 2008
Buyer’s Guide to NZ Wines.

Gisselbrecht Riesling Vin D\'Alsace 2007

Gisselbrecht Riesling Vin D'Alsace 2007

The Gisselbrecht family has been producing wines in Alsace since the 17th century. Today the family owns around 17 hectares of land in the best locations of Dambach la ville. The Vineyards have been acquired throughout the centuries patiently, as the best parcels became free. They are situated in the areas of Dambach la ville in the middle of the wine road in Alsace and the surrounding villages named Epfig, Scherwiller, Chatenois, Nothalten. The family also owns parcels in the Grand Cru Frankstein and also buys some grapes in the Grand cru Muenchberg.

8 wks of perfect weather before harvest lead to healthy ripe fruit with beautiful acidity (in 2007 many of France’s wine regions were awash with rain but Alsace was spared thanks to Alsace’s sheltered location between the Vosges mountains and the Rhine river)

Elegant aroma of floral, of green apple, mint, and grapefruit. Rich and yet delicate and clean on the palate....love the lemon fresh zing on the finish. Sante! Serve with fish, seafood, goats cheese and charcuterie. RRP$35

Enjoyed this Eden Valley riesling...Warmer 08 vintage has produced a juicy wine with plenty of upfront fruit of limes, apples. Definitely one to drink over the next year or so. Dry lip smacking style. RRP $20 Our price $15.99

"A new Schist on the block and pretty handy wine too. It smells of cut apple, faint citrus, some mineral and bit of honeysuckle........ It tastes of apple, a bit of citrus and again that minerality but it’s pretty much soft and easy going with some attractive textural grip to compensate..... In short, it’s good to drink young " 90 Points Gary Walsh of Winefront

Ashton Hills Riesling 2008

Ashton Hills Riesling 2008

TROPHY Adelaide Hills Wine Show.

“Best Riesling vintages at their very cool site are the warmest ones…..even the ferocity of the 2008 March heatwave doesn’t seem to have contradicted this view. It’s testament to the quality of early ripening season as well as the considerable vine age (28 years) that grape flavours peaked early allowing picking before sugar and alcohol skyrocketed so avoiding …an unbalanced wines. The 08 shows lime, flowers and bath salts on the nose and has a full yet soft and delicate palate ( fruit purity of lime and lemon)..It finishes with crisp acidity…”. Stephen George.

Harewood Great Southern Riesling 2009

Harewood Great Southern Riesling 2009

95 POINTS - 5 RED STAR RATING - RATED "Outstanding Value for Money." James Halliday's 2011 Aust Wine Companion.

“Ripe pristine citrus aromas combine with a touch of green apple and slatey minerality; the palate is generous, almost juicy on entry, with the acidity and slate tightening up the finish and providing a fresh, focused and surprisingly long conclusion. Rating 95.” James Halliday.

Harewood has enjoyed extraordinary success in just 5 yrs with James Kellie at the helm…Halliday's elusive 5 red star rating awarded to top 6.5% of wineries.

Love this top shelf dry Riesling from the oldest plantings (30 years old) in cool climate, maritime influenced vineyards in Denmark and Albany in the Great Southern wine region of WA. Only the most pristine, “free-run” juice was used in the production of this wine resulting in a wine of outstanding elegance and intensity.

Beautiful purity of fruit ranging from floral, apple, lemon and limes balanced by perfect acidity. Their 08 was rated 94 pts by Halliday. 09 was a great vintage and we are thrilled with this. Phenomenal stuff.
