Tasting - Coates Wines at Ricky’s Cafe, Milsons Point, June 21st.

The Vine Press will be showcasing Coates Wines from McLaren Vale, South Australia at Ricky’s Cafe Under the Bridge in Milsons Point on Tuesday, 21st June 2011.

Duane Coates’ winemaking philosophy is simple: the highest quality fruit from sustainable, organic vineyards and a natural winemaking approach with minimal intervention.  Huon Hooke said: “Every wine I’ve tasted of McLaren Vale’s Duane Coates has been excellent…”   Highly impressive wines – a style that bridges the gap between fruit driven Australian style and savoury complex wines of old world Europe.
This fun, stand up tasting will be accompanied by gourmet treats created by Ricky O’Campo at Ricky’s Cafe Under the Bridge, Shop 6, Ennis Road, Milsons Point.

Our Vino Espanol Tasting at Ricky’s Cafe Milsons Point on May 10th sold out fast!  So due to overwhelming demand we have added a new night - May 13th - this time in the Sydney CBD, at The Castlereagh Boutique Hotel.

A new generation of growers and winemakers in Spain have been shaking up the world of wine!  Discover this new wave of vino from famous regions such as Rioja, Ribera Del Duero, Rueda and  Rias Baxas. Learn about the fine red varieties of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mencia and whites - Verdejo and Albarino.  Featured wines include Telmo Rodriguez, Alvaro Palacios, Angel Rodriguez (godfather of Verdejo) Roda (the “Grand Cru of Rioja) and more.

This stand up tasting will be accompanied by Spanish gourmet tapas created by Ricky O’Campo at Ricky’s Cafe Under the Bridge, a passionate chef with Spanish heritage.  Ricky opened the first Spanish restaurant on the lower north shore in 2001 - Carabella which was included in the SMH Good Food Guide for four years from 2002, specialising in Tapas and Paella and other Spanish regional dishes.  Now, after a 3 year break, he is back with Ricky’s Cafe Under the Bridge.
